Murmuration is an artist-run exhibition space in Chicago and an artist residency on a historic family farm in Wisconsin, dedicated to cultivating creative freedom, community, and resource-sharing among artists.
The project is named for the massive gatherings of starling birds that fly in shapeshifting formation, sharing warmth and offering collective protection from predators. The word “murmuration” comes from the low murmur produced by the sounds of thousands of starling wingbeats flying together.
